MoU signed with ICTA, Dialog Axiata PLC, and CSSL for establishing an IoT Innovation Lab

In order to cater the rapidly increasing needs of the technological world, and to enhance the teaching, learning, and research activities in the globally hottest area “Internet of Things” (IoT), the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 24 August 2022, with Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), Dialog Axiata PLC, and Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) to establish an IoT Innovation Laboratory with equipment worth over 12 million Sri Lankan rupees, in the newly erected building of the Department of Computer Science.

In this event which started at 2.30 pm, several dignitaries from ICTA, CSSL, and Dialog Axiata PLC participated via Zoom from ICTA Auditorium while the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna Professor S. Srisatkunarajah, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor P. Ravirajan, Head of the Department of Computer Science Mr. S. Suthakar, Patron of CSSL GenZ Chapter of the University of Jaffna Dr. K. Thabotharan, and other staff of the Department of Computer Science joined via Zoom from the Boardroom of the University of Jaffna.

While Mr Jayantha de Silva (Chairman, ICTA), Mr Damith Hettihewa (President, Computer Society of Sri Lanka), and Mr. Supun Weerasinghe (Director/Group Chief Executive, Dialog Axiata PLC) signed their copy of the MoU from the ICTA auditorium, Professor S. Satkunarajah (Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna) put his signature on another copy.
