Call for posters


Final year undergraduate, MSc, MPhil and doctoral research students studying in Sri Lanka are invited to submit high-quality posters of which the main author is a student. Posters can be submitted exclusively for this workshop.  Posters detailing work in progress will also be accepted.  Submitted posters will be refereed on their originality, presentation, empirical results, and quality of evaluation.  All posters will be reviewed and selected by an international and local pool of reviewers for either oral or poster presentation.

The workshop will be single track with both oral and poster presentations.  Instructions for the format of the posters are given below.


Please send your submission by email to slswcs@jfn.ac.lk, cc your supervisor and use the subject line "SL Student Workshop Submission". Include the name and contact details of your supervisor in the body of the email.

 

Poster Guidelines

The poster should be written in English. Some example posters are available here (Poster-1, Poster-2). On acceptance, the presenter needs to print and bring the poster for the workshop.

  • ABSTRACT: Each poster should contain an abstract of max 500 characters.
  • POSTER SIZE: A0 (841mm x 1189mm) either Portrait or Landscape.

 

Poster Spotlights

Prior to the poster session, there is a 20 minutes plenary spotlights session where presenters can "advertise" their posters. The time allocated to each of the spotlight is about 1 minute. A Microsoft Powerpoint presentation template is available here.

 

Prize

A selected subset from the submitted posters will be selected by the reviewers and organising committee for short oral presentation. A “Best Presentation” and "Best Poster" prize will be awarded to the students selected by the invited speakers.

 

Suggested Research Fields

Prospective authors are invited to submit posters in the research areas of interest to the workshop. These include:

  • Bioinformatics
  • Computer Vision
  • Computer Networks and Data Communication
  • Database and Data Mining
  • Machine Learning
  • Mobile Computing
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Pattern Recognition

But not limited to above areas and can be from any other area of Computer Science.
